2010 Celebrities~ Ken Kirzinger and Butch Patrick

Introducing Ken Kirzinger

Ken Kirzinger, famous for playing Jason in Freddy vs. Jason, was born in Saskatchewan Canada on November 4th, 1959. At 6' 5 1/2" he is the tallest out of the nine actors to have played Jason Voorhees. His professional career began when he got a job as a stuntman on the film Superman III, but soon found success as both as stuntman and an actor. As an actor, he is best known for his roles in horror films such as Wrong Turn 2 and Freddy vs. Jason. Kirzinger played Pa, one of the mutant mountain men, in Wrong Turn 2: Dead End.

Ken started out as a stunt coordinator and was noticed by the producer for Freddy vs. Jason and asked to audition for the part. He had to undergo some dental work during the filming of Freddy vs. Jason (2003), but it would have taken too much time to remove his makeup and costume and reapply them. When he arrived at the dentist's office still dressed as Jason (without the hockey mask), people were afraid he was an escaped psychopath and almost called the police.

According to Kirzinger, the hardest thing he went through for performing as Jason in Freddy vs. Jason (2003), was sinking into the lake. They shot the scene in a tank which was highly chlorinated and had debris to make it look like lake water. Director Ronny Yu wanted the close-up of Ken's eye and wanted him to sink into the water keeping his eye open. Then also he can't breathe because it would be visible on film. He was lying on top of the water and had to let himself sink down to the bottom of the tank without breathing keeping his eye open. Kirzinger really held his breath, and the chlorine in the water burned his eyes.

On whom he thought won at the end of Freddy vs. Jason - "Well, ya know, I always say that I did because ya know, there was just more of me left then him. Ya know, I kicked his ass, I mean, right off his body. Uh, all there was, was a head. But uh, I got a feeling that, that's the battle, not the war."

Come out to Jason's Woods during the weekend of October 8th-10th to meet Ken Kirzinger. He will be signing autographs for $20.00. Don't miss out on this opportunity!
